ST-01 Mobile Home Firefighting 12 Hours  $100.00

Instructor: Carey Slauter, Battalion Chief of Operations, White River Twp. Fire Department

Manufactured homes ((mobile homes) and modular home fires are often taken for granted as routine fires that are usually completely destroyed prior to arrival of the fire department.  This class will show students that these are from from routine fires, they are just as dangerous as any other structure fire and can be extinguished and salvaged. This class will focus on the following areas:

  • Building construction features

  • Different attack options and operating modes

  • Search and rescue tactics and how fire spread affects victim escape

  • Ventilation options and how these affect fire spread

  • Exposure protection problems in manufactured home communities

  • Water supply options

  • Recognition of different heating and utility systems

Day one:  Classroom instruction    

Day 2:  Hands-on in the field, conduction of live fire scenarios with manufactured homes, practicing the areas learned in the classroom

Requirements:  Full turn out gear with SCBA and a spare bottle are required to participate.

Pre-requisites:  Firefighter I/II
