FF-01  Building Construction for the Fire Service  12 Hours   $80.00

This class is predicated from the Francis Brannigan book "Building Construction in the Fire Service"  It will cover the Chapters on steel, concrete, wood, roofs, drywall, masonry and containment.

Instructor:  Mel Lane

Mel Lane is currently holding the position of Assistant Director of Risk Management at Indiana University.  He began his career in the fire service some 20 years ago wit the Sommerset Twp. Fire Dept. in Michigan. Mel moved up in rank while working with the Marine Corps Fire Service in Albany Georgia and ended his full time fire career as Chief of Training at a full-time department in Indiana. Mel feels the importance of prevention is often over looked in departments placing emphasis and funding on operations alone.  Building Construction for the Fire Service should take center stage any time a crew enters a structure under attack by fire.  This course will focus on ways buildings, new and old, are put together and how they come apart.
