FF-07 Courage to Be Safe 6 Hours $40.00 Fighting fire is an inherently dangerous occupation in itself, and, while seemingly heroic, the acceptance of some common beliefs and misconceptions needlessly contributes to the nearly 100 firefighter line-of-duty deaths each year. This course will explore the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives in-depth, and will help develop strategies for turning those 16 initiatives from words to actions. The student will grasp the concept that sometimes discretion really is the better part of valor, and will be able to support the goal that Everyone Goes Home. Instructor: Joe Squier Joe began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter 16 years ago, where he served as Assistant Chief and Training Officer. He spent eight years with the Indiana State Police. He entered the career fire service with the New Albany Fire Department in 2007. He quickly rose to the rank of Battalion Chief, commanding the Training Bureau and serving as a Safety Officer for the Department. Joe is currently certified as a Fire Instructor II/III along with numerous other State certifications, and is certified in several technical rescue disciplines.
