ST-04 Water Survival for Firefighters 12 Hours $70.00 Course Description: Too many emergency responders unnecessarily put their lives at risk during water emergencies. Using a realistic approach, including actual incident photos and scenarios, this class is designed to teach Fire Fighters, EMS, and other emergency responders how to safely execute water rescue techniques. Through both classroom and active participation, “Water Survival” will demonstrate a variety of methods for working in and around all types of water incidents. You will learn how to efficiently do a scene size up, determine what resources are required, and the best way to access those resources. Some of the hands-on skills taught in this course include in-water immobilization, reach and throw techniques, improvising when proper equipment is not readily available, and rescuing a distressed SCUBA diver. Students should have basic swimming skills. This is a full participation class and you WILL get wet. Lifejackets will be available and in use for all deep water skills. This course will provide you with many ideas you can take back to your own department to keep everyone safe in and around water.
